Power Washing A House That Got Egged
Last week we got a call from a homeowner needing power washing to remove egg stains from her house.
These are the kind of calls we usually get in the summer. Like calls for graffiti removal, these incidents are much more common when the schools are closed.
We don’t know if her house was egged intentionally or just a random act from children running loose. But since we were in a heat wave with temperatures reaching above 90 degreees, she wanted to get it off as soon as possible before the sun baked it hard.
Before we went out, we made sure she knew that we couldn’t guarantee there wouldn’t be any permanent stains. Eggs can cause damage to paint – whether on a car or the siding of your house – far beyond what you might expect. And unless it’s wiped off before the egg dries, it’s usually too late to prevent damage.
She understood and still wanted us to come out and power wash as soon as possible to prevent whatever staining we could. Fortunately, we had a crew that finished their route early that day – and they had a ladder with them. The hooligans had thrown the eggs onto the roof of her house, too, so we had to climb up and wash the shingles off.
We don’t do a lot of residential power washing, whether it’s decks or house siding. Our commercial clients keep us pretty busy. Sometimes we can’t fit another job in when the homeowner wants it done. But when we can squeeze these jobs into our schedule, we’re more than happy to help.
