Graffiti in the Spruce Mountain Open Space

by | Mar 29, 2011 | Graffiti Removal

When you get tagged with graffiti, don’t make it worse!

If you use some cheap consumer product that partially dissolves the paint, it can get smeared around – or much worse – soak in deeper and make it impossible for us to remove completely, especially when you’re dealing with soft old brick or rocks.

Or if you call some yahoo that doesn’t know what he’s doing, he can destroy the surface by using too much pressure.

My service manager told me about the story on 9 News last night about the graffiti in one of Douglas County’s parks. I found the story on their website and watched it this morning. We called Douglas County to offer to help them but only got voice mails so I sent the following email to Channel 9 News.

Email sent to Chris Vanderveen at 9News.com:

Chris,

I’m trying to offer the services of my company in removing this graffiti. I left two messages with Douglas County but I’ve had no response so I thought you might have a contact there.

If the rangers go and get the consumer products to try to remove this themselves, they can make it worse. If you partially dissolve the paint with the wrong material, it will soak into the rocks and be impossible to get out. We have a much better chance to remove it if the rangers don’t touch it first.

My grandfather taught me to carry a bag to pick up cans and trash when we went hiking over 40 years ago and I hate seeing this kind of destruction.

If you can contact someone and have them get in touch with us, we can take care of this for them.

Thanks,
