Graffiti Removal On an Aurora Water Tank Again
Water tanks are prime spots for graffiti – which makes them prime spots for graffiti removal.
These tanks seem to pull graffiti “artists” like a black hole in space. It seems the chance to draw something on top of a hill where so many people can see it is irresistible for those who need to display their art.
While the need for creative people to display their creativity is understandable, it would seem to make more sense to do it in a place where it would remain for longer than a few days.
And wouldn’t it make more sense to display your work in a place where you could get credit for it? That’s a rhetorical question, of course. then it would be considered art instead of graffiti to be removed.
While this is a recurring theme when we write about graffiti removal, there’s always the hope that the message will get through. But not writing about the frustrations of having to remove the same tags over and over seems kind of like not removing the graffiti.
You can’t stop removing it just because they keep putting it back up. There are too many studies that show extensive graffiti is the beginning of the downfall of a neighborhood. Its kind of like mowing the lawn or washing the sidewalks – it’s just part of maintaining your property.
The only way to win is to take it down quickly so no one sees it. If the taggers don’t get their strokes from showing off their work, they’ll go somewhere else. You have to make sure your property is not one of their favorite spots.
Even if its a water tank on top of a hill.
