John Hickenlooper at Wash On Wheels? Automating Customer Service Is A Really Bad Idea
Our company just got a letter addressed to John Hickenlooper at Wash On Wheels offering a free trial to Google Apps. (Click the letter to enlarge it)
I’m fairly certain the Governor of Colorado isn’t moonlighting at my company in a capacity I’m unaware of. We’re not that big!
We all try to simplify our lives by letting machines do as much as possible. But if you want your clients to feel like they’re important to your company, you need a more personal touch.
Which brings us to this whoopsee by the masters of internet search – Google. It’s obvious that Google’s bots scanned our website to come up with the name John Hickenlooper. Our website has a caption under a photo of the Guv and me.
He was Denver’s Mayor at the time and was thanking me for helping remove graffiti in downtown Denver. Since my name – clearly marked “Joel Shorey of Wash On Wheels” – came right after his, the bots obviously stopped at the first name they came to.
Why would Google use such a shot in the dark approach? There are hundred of ways to find the right name at our company. This reminds me of those “personalized” emails with my name spelled wrong.
At Wash On Wheels, we spend hundreds of hours on our website to make sure it provides tons of useful information to help you make intelligent decisions about pressure washing, detailing, and potential problems with EPA water recovery – whether you use our services or not!
But we don’t stop with technology. When you call or email us, a real person responds. If you have a problem, one of our managers will personally handle it until it’s resolved. Our website can easily be found on the internet by people who need information on pressure washing services. But when it comes to getting the work done, our clients always get personal service from the first call all the way through the finish line.

Dependable Pressure Washing – As Scheduled
So many times we get calls at Wash On Wheels because a potential customer had another Denver pressure washing company lined up who cancelled at the last moment - or just didn’t show up. Many of the projects we do are on a specific time frame. Our client needs...
Testing New Pressure Washing Products To Stay On The Leading Edge
Pressure washing takes more than just blasting dirt off with high pressure water. Many jobs require special soaps and solvents to get the job done. Grease and oil spill cleanups, graffiti removal, and removing concrete splatter from cars are good examples. So we...
