City Of Lakewood Issues Citations For Graffiti
The City of Lakewood has been issuing citations for graffiti on buildings inside the city limits.
The citations give the building owners five days to have the graffiti removed. And while this can be a hassle, there is a very good reason why the city is forcing the issue.
As we’ve mentioned before, property values start to fall when graffiti isn’t removed. It shows a lack of care in the neighborhood and gives people who visit the area a bad impression. If it is a commercial area, it can quickly start to show in falling revenues.
So we’ve been getting quite a few calls to remove the graffiti. It isn’t a difficult process – if you know what you’re doing.
But when we get calls from people and they start the conversation by telling us what they used to try to remove it, it changes everything. Now we have to deal with the chemicals they put on, along with the paint or other material the tag was made of.
For example, if someone used paint remover on brick, it will partially dissolve the paint allowing it to soak deeper into the brick. This can make it impossible to remove completely.
If you want to try to remove the graffiti yourself, do a test in a small place that isn’t very visible. That way, if it doesn’t work, it won’t make a mess of the whole wall.
As self serving as it may sound, this isn’t the kind of job you should try yourself, unless you’re sure you know what you’re doing. Call a company that has been doing graffiti removal for many years and has the experience to do the job right.
