Our snow plowing clients expect us to take care of getting their lots clean without checking with them first.

Snow much deeper than snow plowing depth

Snow much deeper than snow plowing depth

We set their expectations at the beginning of the snow plowing season and take care of it. And after all these years, we’ve gotten pretty good at it. But every now and then, the forecast is so far off, you can look silly.

We went to bed last night with a forecast of a dusting of snow with almost no accumulation. One of our managers checked the weather at his house in Denver at 1:30am and saw nothing. Another manager checked the weather at his house in Parker at 2:30am and saw blue skies. Having checked that the forecast appeared to be right, they both went back to bed without expecting to do any snow plowing the next day.

We were all surprised when our clients called at 5:00am to say they had 4-5 inches of snow, and it was still falling heavily. We scrambled our crews and got out as quickly as we could.

But by that time, you have to deal with a lot of traffic that isn’t there if you’re on the road by 1:00am. So it takes a lot longer to get to the lots to start snow plowing. And when you get there, you have to deal with cars in the way.

Fortunately, our snow plowing clients had seen the forecast, too.

So they knew why we didn’t have everything cleared out before they arrived, like they’re used to. This storm came in so unexpectedly that the weathermen weren’t even talking about a chance of this kind of snow. That’s winter in Colorado!
