We were called last week to pressure wash around some solar panels on a roof.

Baby Birds in nest.

Image via Wikipedia - we're not going to pressure wash birds nests.

When we climbed up on the roof to pressure wash, we found some bird’s nests with baby birds in them. Needless to say, we just climbed back down.

This isn’t the first time we’ve come up on this problem. We’ve had a few calls from homeowners to pressure wash swallow’s nest off the side of their stucco homes. We don’t have any problems doing the work – we’re just not going to do it when there are birds in the nests.

And this isn’t only because we’re nice to birds – which we are by the way. But you can get in serious trouble if you do this and get caught.

We understand that having bird’s nest all over the side of your multi-million dollar house doesn’t make it look very nice.

We had one homeowner call us because he was trying to sell the house and the buyer wanted the nests removed before they would close on the sale. He wasn’t very happy when we told him you can’t pressure wash birds nests until the birds leave, which in this case was months away.

He never called us back so we don’t know what he did. I suspect he called another company to pressure wash the nests away. And whether they didn’t know any better or didn’t care is irrelevant. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know it isn’t right.

If you want us to pressure wash your house – the right way – give us a call.
