This was the 17th annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival in Denver and it took place on July 29th and 30th at Sloan’s Lake Park. More than 100,000 people attended this year’s festival.
The Dragon Boat Festival is based on a 2000 year old Chinese tradition. But the Denver festival has grown to include all the Asian cultures including China, Japan, Korea, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

Members of Boulder’s Shaolin Hung Mei Kung Fu organization and a Chinese Zen Buddhist monk were in attendance.
Dragonland is a special area where kids of all ages can learn about the cultures represented at the festival. Face painting, origami and calligraphy are some of the crafts available.

The marketplace is full of unique, arts and crafts vendors like you might find in the open-air street markets of Hong Kong, Manila, Seoul or Bombay.
