Emergency Grease Spill in Longmont’s Downtown Shopping District

by | Nov 28, 2012 | Grease Spill Cleanup

The grease spill occurred in the early hours of Monday, November 19, 2012 and threatened to tarnish the start of this week’s holiday shopping season. The grease was spilled in the street and passing cars splattered the grease on the sidewalks. Our crew cleaned it up early Tuesday morning before the stores opened.

Having shoppers see this kind of mess on the sidewalks could dampen their desire to return to the district. The grease spill cleanup needed to be done right away. Since a storm drain was only a few feet away, the cleanup required pressure washing with water recovery.

Since we have done previous work for the city, inspectors had observed our cleanup procedures and knew we could do this type of job the right way.

If one of our clients has a grease spill or any kind of mess they need cleaned, they count on us to adjust our schedule and get the job done quickly. Fortunately, overnight temperatures were above freezing so the cleanup could be done without creating ice. Winter in Colorado can be difficult for sidewalk cleaning at restaurants and shopping centers. Many times, nighttime temperatures stay below freezing for weeks.

In the winter, we often have all our trucks out on that one night when it finally gets warm enough to wash sidewalks. Our clients don’t want to go for months without getting their stores and restaurants cleaned up. With this being the busiest time of year for many retail businesses, they want the sidewalks and entrances to look great.

With 26 years experience in Denver, we know how to deal with Colorado’s winter temperatures.
