Railroad Equipment Washing In 50mph Winds

by | May 27, 2014 | Equipment Pressure Washing

We scheduled a railroad equipment washing job for early May.

And when we set up the job, it looked like it would be no problem to get it done. Denver temperatures in early May are usually well above freezing.

But while the temperatures were high enough, the winds were howling. There were gusts above 50 mile per hour recorded that day.

But the Union Pacific Railroad had already staged a bunch of their equipment to be washed. They had taken it out of service and moved it into position for us to clean. The hassle of rearranging the scheduling for all this equipment would have been a challenge.o while conditions were less than ideal, we showed up to get the job done. We had three crews scheduled to make sure we got all the railroad equipment pressure washing done in one day

But actually doing the job became a little challenging. Instead of just having our crews work their way down the line, we had to make sure they wouldn’t be working downwind from each other.

Pressure washing equipment always involves some splattering, no matter what the weather. The surfaces to be cleaned are rarely flat so you can’t always control where the water will splash.

The gusting winds took the splattering to a different level. Our crews had to be extra careful to make sure the splashing water didn’t go right back onto the surface they had just cleaned – or where someone else had been working.

Doing what it takes to get the job done – when our clients need it done – is why they use our pressure washing services instead of other companies. They know we’ll do whatever it takes. That’s the kind of service that has kept our clients calling us back for almost 30 years.
