WINDY DAYS AND SCRATCHED CARS

by | May 6, 2011 | Car Washing, Truck & Car Cleaning & Detailing

Nature has many ways of affecting anyone that does outdoor work.  For pressure washing, especially when cleaning cars for car dealerships, even just a windy day can put a halt to our work.  In Colorado, where the humidity is usually low or very low, when the wind blows it picks up all the dry surface dirt from the mountains or the plains and carries it across the Denver metro area, dropping a fine layer on everything.  Most people don’t notice the dirt and grit in the air, but for our crews it becomes obvious quickly.

When our crews are washing cars, they usually run as a three-man crew; one person sprays the cars to get the dirt off and the other two people chamois the cars dry.  But when the wind is carrying grit through the air, sometimes there’s enough of it to coat the car after it has been sprayed but before it gets dried.

Our crews know to watch for this because if they don’t, they can cause lots of fine-line scratches on the cars they are drying.  These scratches are very fine and can easily be removed by buffing, but we have learned through our 26 years experience that not everyone perceives the damage the same way.  When our crews run into this, they always check in with the managers of the car dealerships, explain what is happening and then leave it up to the managers to decide whether to keep washing or not.

This is just another way that Wash On Wheels does business at a higher level than the competition.  We’re not going to try to hide the hard-to-see damage just to make an extra buck for the day because we want all our clients to be lifelong references for us.
