Pressure washing awnings in the early morning in downtown Denver

Pressure washing is a great way to clean awnings – probably the best way because you don’t have to take them down from the wall or poles they’re mounted on. This saves you a lot of time and money and keeps your building from looking torn apart while the awnings are down being cleaned. Taking them down and putting them back up dramatically raises the chances of damaging them, too.

And if the awning cleaning is done on a consistent basis, they’ll stay as clean as possible for a fabric surface that stays outside all the time. If you don’t wash them often enough to maintain them, permanent stains should be expected.

How often you clean your awnings depends mainly on the traffic and surrounding areas. In a closed environment like downtown Denver, the exhaust from the cars, and even more from the diesel trucks and buses, will settle on the awnings, especially in a warm rain. And if your building has a open fields close by, the dirt will get blown on them and soak in when it rains.

Awning cleaning usually includes scrubbing with a mild soap and soft brush

Since awnings are usually on the front of the building over the entrance, they usually have to be cleaned when the business is closed. So last week we were downtown in the wee hours of the morning before the sun came up.

When pressure washing in downtown Denver, you also have to be aware of the surrounding properties. Since many businesses are in buildings with apartments above them, you can’t show up in the middle of the night and fire up your noisy pressure washer without waking a lot of people up. Like when you’re doing any kind of pressure washing at hotels and motels, you have to be aware of people sleeping.

When you wake people up, they tend to be a little cranky. You might get angry people coming out yelling at your crew members or calls to your office. And if your clients get complaints from their neighbors, they won’t be very happy with you, either.

And awning cleaning usually includes rinsing down the windows and walls that get wet, and water recovery of the wash water before it reaches a storm drain and causes headaches for everyone.
