This was a boat detail job where we couldn’t guarantee satisfaction.

Boat Detail 09A new client brought us a boat with deep scratches that looked like someone had tried to sand them out with sandpaper. They had scratched deep into the gel-coat making it impossible to remove completely. We couldn’t tell how the deep scratches had happened in the first place. We don’t usually see them this bad.

When they brought us the boat, we let them know upfront it would be impossible to make the boat look new. They understood, since it was obvious the previous attempt at removing the scratches has caused permanent damage. They just wanted us to make it look as good as possible.

We spent a few hours with a buffer and made it look much better. But the scratches that had been sandpapered are permanent.Boat Detail 01

This is a great example of what can happen when someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing gets in over their head – whether its boat detailing, car repair, computer repair, graffiti removal, or whatever.

There are some things you should just have someone else take care of. And it seems to be more frequent as things get more complicated. Many of us used to do our own car repairs. But with all the electronics they have, it takes a skilled mechanic with the right tools to do the job right.

Boat detailing is the same thing – and this boat is a great example. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you can make it worse instead of better.

Call a professional at boat detailing and get the job done right – the first time.
